Get Your Basics Down

The most important part, when it comes acquiring a look is getting the basics down. The basics consists of a good set of shirts, jeans, and good shoes. You can add perfumes and outer layers once you’ve gotten this down.

T-Shirts

Your shirts should fit you. They shouldn’t too big or too fit unless you’re muscular. There are a variety of t-shirts but a good one would be to have 2 V-necks and at least one crew neck that could either be white or gray.

A good set of colors that would work are navy blue and gray shirts. Once you’ve obtained these shirts, you can move on to pastel colors. Avoid noisy colors or neon colors as much as possible because they attract too much attention.

You should also own button down shirts and a polo. You can live with owning at least a two pairs of each. You don’t have to spend too much, just choose toned down colors to help you look more comfortable.

Pants

A good pair of jeans shouldn’t cost less than $100. I know it’s ridiculous, but jeans would last for years if it’s properly taken care of. You should pick jeans that would suit your size. If you’re muscular, pick jeans that aren’t too skinny and if you’re skinny you can either choose skinny or slim fit. It all depends on how it looks on your body and your tastes.

Trousers and Chinos can be less than $100. But a good start would be to get khaki, brown, or white. If you’re ready to go for different colors, always remember to avoid noisy colors and choose mute and toned down ones instead.

Shoes

Shoes just like your pants can last your for years. There are a lot of guides out there that give you a good description of what colors you should combine with your pants. A good rule of thumb is to at least own one black, brown, and white shoe. These can be a variety of sneakers, loafers, dress shoes, or workout shoes. When wearing casual attire, try and avoid black dress shoes as much as possible.

You shouldn’t be restricted with one type of shoes. It all depends on your budget but a shoe that costs at least $100 will last you years and be able to give you great comfort. There are a lot of issues with cheap shoes despite the similar look they have with costly ones. If you’d like to go for decent priced shoes, but have a bit of a budget problem, there’s no problem with buying one pair every three months. It’s very unlikely that you would complete your wardrobe within one sitting anyways.

Outer Layers

A good blazer is something that should be a worthwhile investment. Navy and gray colors are optimal for the summer and during the day. However, getting a black one for frequent night use would be great.

Brown and gray coats should be bought. Muted and cozy toned clothes will help match this kind of clothes easily. This is a great cheat to look cozy instantly.

You should be careful when choosing a jacket. Open jackets often provide you a different appearance. It makes you look more carefree and open rather than cozy and comfortable.

Perfumes

Perfumes can be similar to clothes. Perfumes are a person’s soundtrack. People will identify you based on your smell. And there can be good and bad soundtracks, but you can easily choose the best ones by having a head start.
